LIFE LESSONS @ Primary School

Botany is a huge chunk of Science in the UK syllabus. Objectives include identification of parts of tree, flower, leaf, functions of botany parts, conducting experiments to determine the needs of living things, classification of living, non-living and dead, description of the photosynthesis process, analysis and listing plants according to categories such as habitats.

The best path towards successful lessons is to provide experiences in the real world, by construction of materials and experimentation. So these primary learners went to a nearby nursery to document the plants, including water plants (floating and grounded in water). They took all the photos of the plants and will write a report in the coming days.

As for today, they identified some new plants and constructed a poster of "Parts of a Tree". Living lessons are tedious, long and require a lot of preparation. But they are often the best lessons and the ones that will last a lifetime.

Science lessons are practical, encouraging the learners to investigate
and find answers to questions that are important to them.

Recreating their lesson by producing a 3D Parts of a Tree using recycled products
and the Montessori Botany Puzzle.
