Summer Camp 2017

Walked through the smaller lanes towards Lovers Lane, Ipoh.

We love Summer Camps. We really do. Premier Summer Camps are designed with the child at the centre of the program. This is a camp for the kids! 2017 is the fourth Summer Camp and each year it gets better and better.

We started off in Sungkai Wildlife Centre, learning about the Malaysian wildlife. A school parent asked "How many tigers are left in the wild?" and it is sad to report that there are approximately 50 tigers in the Malaysian jungles. This is considered critically endangered.

First flat water rafting for many Premier learners and their parents.

First afternoon was wet as we water rafted down a flat river. No-one was spared! Everyone had loads of fun and splashed about. No small drizzle can stop the children. They jumped into the river with great gusto and were confidently swimming. Guess the hours spent learning to swim and participating in the triathlons helped them gain confidence to swim.

The facilitators from Radiant Retreats were spectacular and instinctively knew how to navigate through the 5 to 10 year old's minds. The children had many questions and requests and these were met positively.

Second morning was spent at the Hot Spring. Another water related activity that saw the children screaming for more. They learned how the hot springs formed, investigated the living things that lived in extremely hot water and then another round of BIG SPLASH at the slides and water features.

We then drove to Gua Tempurung, a magnificent showcase cave that is open to learners and visitors. It was an arduous task to climb up those steps, especially those families with little babies (Yes, even little babies came to the camp!) and the 69 year old grand pa. Children learned about the life forms living in the caves and how the stalagmites and stalactites are formed over thousands of years.

Did you know that stalagmites and stalactites
take a 1000 years to grow 10 cm?

By late evening, we started our drive to Ipoh for our second night. Ipoh is familiar to many of us because we were there just a month earlier for the Tenby LIVE MORE Triathlon race. So it was comfortable to be in the city for the second time. There are many old style shops and even more fascinating places to visit. We loved the third day walk across many architectural marvels in Ipoh... They seem to have far more beautiful and exciting buildings such as the Ipoh Train Station and the tree infested buildings to Lovers Lane.

We often have short trips and camps for Premier learners. Email us to find out how to get active and learn together as a family and as a big Premier family!

Fishing with rods and lines was a new experience for many children.

Everyone is a learner at the Premier Summer Camp!
